Mudbone strikes a chord in the heart of Americans with ‘Christmas Whiskey’
Poignant new single from TRP Records (Nashville) artist ‘Mudbone’ to benefit the R&DA Military Assistance Program
[NASHVILLE TN] - Nov 9, 2017 – TRP Records recording artist ‘Mudbone’ announces nationwide single release of “Christmas Whiskey” on November 10th, 2017 in correlation with the upcoming holiday season. Fifty percent of all digital sales will go to the R&DA Military Assistance Program to help with the treatment of wounded veterans who suffer from the effects of PTSD, a subject Mudbone recognized the need to spread awareness about through years of touring and the many encounters he has had with service men and women.
Christmas Whiskey is the story of how a Christmas Day conversation with bandmates turned into a life changing moment upon hearing the tale of an old soldier who survived a Christmas day battle where his only reprieve was a flask of whiskey sent by his family. The soldier further explains how once he had returned home, the whiskey that was once a reprieve became his downfall. The redemption in the song comes from the life lessons of humility and gratitude as it overwhelms the group of musicians who were complaining only moments before about their Christmas far away from home. Christmas Whiskey encourages the listener to not only be thankful for “the sacrifice that we never had to make” and to thank those who have made them, but to also think deeply about those sacrifices when honoring veterans rather than to offer thanks from a base sense of obligation.
“I was in Iraq in 2008 on Christmas day and got a handle of whiskey in the mail. It’s amazing how special that was and how you captured that moment.” -K. Chapman, Sgt. USMC
Mudbone is a recording artist, songwriter, producer, and music historian based in Nashville TN. He is celebrating the release of his double album ‘Rivers & Roads’ while planning tours supporting the release in coordination with the; Armed Forces Radio Network, AFN, and USO and The Last Honky Tonk Music Series. A forthcoming historically based fictional novel and accompanying public television documentary on American music history are also currently in production.
